Antique “SUN MON TUE” Painted Store Display Sign Panel

Early painted wooden sign panel reading "SUN · MON · TUE," likely part of a larger weekly display or changeable storefront calendar system. The lettering is rendered in bold red with a yellow shadow, applied over a cream ground that has developed heavy age texture and surface cracking. The panel is housed in a simple mitered wood frame with a worn, weathered finish, giving the piece a distinctly utilitarian, small-shop character. The layered paint loss and exposed underlayers create a strong visual patina, emphasizing its long-term use in a commercial setting. Designed for clarity and quick readability, it reflects a time when even basic signage was hand-painted and built to endure.

Unmarked examples like this were commonly produced for grocers, markets, and small businesses, forming part of modular signage systems used to display days, pricing, or weekly specials.

Shows heavy wear including significant paint loss, flaking, and surface degradation throughout the panel. Frame exhibits edge wear, finish loss, and age-related patina. Overall condition is consistent with prolonged use and exposure.
